Well, dear friends, I once again find myself in Manizales. After a brief exile in Panama City (a story for another day), I found myself returning from Quito to Colombia by bus.
Even leaving Colombia, having overstayed briefly, was quite the mishap. Having been briefly extorted in the Antioquian Gulf, I decided the wisest course of action was to comply, return to Medellin, and surrender with my arms held high.
Fortunately, that chapter is over, as is my Panamanian exile, and I've now returned.
Whilst the nocturnal crossing back from Tulcan to Ipiales was quite the misadventure - as was keeping a very low profile alongst the corridor from Ipiales to Cali, all went mostly smoothly.
There were, mind you, several moments when I've found myself hiding in the bathroom during army checkpoints. As they say, no harm no foul in avoiding scrutiny.
I'm delighted to be back in Manizales, and I must admit - I think I'm done with misadventures for a few months.
